The Rural Task Group and Forum provides a focus in the diocese for issues affecting the countryside and the life of rural churches, and support for the Rural Officer.
Meeting quarterly, under the leadership of the Bishop of Knaresborough, it developed a Rural Strategy for the diocese and monitors its implementation. As part of that, it is currently looking at the role of Market Town churches as they relate to the small communities and churches within their hinterland. The care, use and management of rural church buildings is also being explored.
The Task Group works with the regional Rural Church Support Network, an ecumenical rural church body, in delivering events and training for those engaged in rural ministry and mission.
