Join the Interfaith Clean-up

Interfaith clean-up

A small army of volunteers of different faiths have been working together to try and make a difference to the local environment.

Christians, Pagans, Muslims and Sikhs recently took part in on the first of a series of 'Clean Up’ operations, working together at Halton Moor. The initiatives followed an Interfaith Environment Conference held earlier in the year with the aim of carrying out practical initiatives rather than just talking.

Interfaith Officer Charles Dobbin said, “It was a great day, with five Muslims, two Christians, four sikh and one pagan volunteer.  A lot of land was cleared and footpaths are now clear to walk along. Many thank to John Cummins of Groundwork, who resourced the project and liaised with the local community.”

The next Clean Up operation is on Saturday February 21 at the Cardinals Estate, Beeston from 10am with more volunteers needed for litter clearance, hedge cutting and pruning. Anyone interested should contact John Cummins of  Groundwork jcummins@groundwork.org.uk
